Accommodation Ability Evaluation of High Renewable Energy Penetrated Power System with Large-scale Concentrating Solar Power

2021
In this paper, a method on evaluation of annual accommodation ability of high renewable energy penetrated power system with concentrating solar power (CSP) is proposed based on sequential production simulation technology. Firstly, an aggregated CSP operation model is established and a long-term unit commitment model is then formulated with considering the constraints of system balance, system reserve, transmission line limitation and operations of wind power, photovoltaic (PV) power, CSP, thermal power and hydro power. Secondly, the hourly power series of renewable energy is incorporated as inputs for maximizing utilization of annual power generation of wind, PV and CSP. Thirdly, a sequential decomposition algorithm is adopted to solve the long-term optimization model. Finally, the proposed method is tested on a high renewable energy penetrated power system with large-scale CSP and the testing results validate the effectiveness and applicability of the proposed method.
