Niveles de actividad física moderada-vigorosa de adolescentes del municipio de Soria.

2016
International recommendations advised children and youth to practice at least 60 minutes/day of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA). The aims of the present research are: 1) Knowing the degree of compliance with the recommendations of a group of 71 students of 1st and 2nd ESO of the municipality of Soria; 2) Describing the time and energy expenditure (EE) of practice of MVPA according to the gender and age of participants, the time of the day (morning and afternoon) and the day of the week (weekday and weekend). A descriptive behavioural epidemiological study was designed in which 171 students wrote a previously designed physical activity (PA) diary along a week. The sample selected was 71 students. The obtained data were gathered on an Excel table, they were analyzed considering count of minutes/day of MVPA and the durations of EE in MVPA and they were compared using Student´s T-test for independent samples. The results obtained show that 1.4% of the students achieve international recommendations, boys accomplish higher levels of duration and EE than girls and students of 1st course accomplish higher levels than students of 2nd ESO, at any time of the day and at day of the week. The main conclusion of the study is the existence of lower levels of compliance of the international recommendation about MVPA.
