Reverberation mapping of the Seyfert 1 galaxy NGC 7469

2014
ABSTRACTA large reverberation mapping study of the Seyfert 1 galaxy NGC7469 has yielded emission-linelags for Hβλ4861 and Heiiλ4686 and a central black hole mass measurement M BH ≈ 1 × 10 7 M ⊙ ,consistent with previous measurements. A very low level of variability during the monitoring campaignprecluded meeting our original goal of recovering velocity–delay maps from the data, but with thenew Hβ measurement, NGC7469 is no longer an outlier in the relationship between the size of theHβ-emitting broad-line region and the AGN luminosity. It was necessary to detrend the continuumand Hβ and Heiiλ4686 line light curves and those from archival UV data for different time-seriesanalysis methods to yield consistent results.Subjectheadings: galaxies: active — galaxies: individual (NGC7469) — galaxies: nuclei — galaxies:Seyfert 1 Department of Astronomy, The Ohio State University, 140W 18th Ave, Columbus, OH 43210 2 Center for Cosmology & AstroParticle Physics, The OhioState University, 191 West Woodruff Ave, Columbus, OH 43210
