Der Einfluss des Wertewandels auf die Entwicklung im Jugendalter: Ein deduktiver Ansatz

2011
The article deals with the influence of the societal change of values on the development of adolescents. Starting point is a critical analysis of existing pedagogical approaches to the connection between social change and variables on the side of the adolescents. The authors’ approach is based on findings from research on values, adolescence, and the school. It sketches a picture of adolescents who adapt to a society in which they live through a prolonged phase providing not only demands and offers in the achievement sector, but also contexts allowing for an increased feeling of well-being. On the one hand, intermediate processes on the level of institutional contexts, in which adolescents live, are specified. On the other hand, individual cognitive processes are posited, which mediate the influence of values on the behavior and the experiences of adolescents. The expansion of the value structure confronts adolescents with the task of developing strategies for a value synthesis.
