New bio-based polyhydroxyurethane material

Abstract The synthesis and characterization of new green and biobased polyhydroxyurethanes (PHU) are described. This polymer was prepared in three steps: jojoba oil was functionalized by thioglycolic acid to obtain the Jojoba diacid (Jo2ac). This last was also modified by glycerol carbonate to obtain a reactive dicyclocarbonate which reacts with 1,5 diaminopentane through polyaddition reaction. The obtained materials were characterized by FTIR, NMR and their thermal properties were studied by DSC and TGA.
