A novel motion compensation method for random frequency hopping radar

2017
In the random frequency hopping radar, the modulated frequencies are randomly distributed over given bandwidth. The random distribution of modulated frequencies will cause a serious defocusing problem for synthesizing high resolution range profile, for which a proper motion compensation method is quite necessary. To solve this problem, the required compensation precision is firstly analyzed and then a novel motion compensation method based on the cross-correlation between the adjacent two range profiles and minimum entropy function is presented. The presented method is capable of precise compensation with a low computation. Simulations demonstrate the validity of the presented method.
