Analysis of High-Resoluti on ASDEX Upgrade Edge Plasma Profiles

1999
Summary and conclusionsHigh resolution edge profiles have beenmeasured at ASDEX Upgrade by Thomsonscattering for a small number of dischargescovering nevertheless a broad range of fusionrelevant scenarios. The profiles have beenanalysed first by filtering and inspection, thenby fitting 1.5 d analytic transport models withfree separatrix position using standard and Bayesian statistics and finally by an automatic profileanalysis version of the 2-dimensional B2.5 code. A strong radial transport correlation across theseparatrix into the power conducting layer seems to exist, which causes a striking similaritybetween hot SOL and pedestal gradient scaling.
