To develop technical procedures that optimize mineral exploration and minimize environmental impact resultant of mining activity, it is necessary to elaborate thematic maps related to this activity. The lack of thematic maps of the municipalities of Parelhas and Equador in the state of Rio Grande do Norte (municipalities with large occurrences of minerals in Borborema Pegmatitic Province) was a reality until the development of the present study. The main objective of this paper was the generation of thematic maps and the constitution of a georeferred database as a way to store, consult, visualize, manipulate and generate data for the suitable establishment of mining activities in these areas.
