Optical properties of semiconductor quantum dots and pillar microcavities

The effects of Coulomb interaction on the optical spectra of semiconductor quantum dots are investigated using a full‐diagonalization approach. Characteristic features of resulting multi‐exciton spectra are explained using simplified Hamiltonians. The optical properties of quantum dots in pillar microcavities with different transverse mode confinement are studied within a theory‐experiment comparison.
