Optical studies on Rh2O3

2008
IR and reflectance spectra of Rh2O3 have been observed at room temperature. X-ray diffraction pattern show that the sample has the corundum structure. The IR spectra shows the presence of 5 peaks at 706,647,597,456 and 266 cm−1, corresponding to the corundum structure. Optical constants (n,K) were determined by a Kramers-Kroning analysis from the reflectance spectra recorded in the 200–1200 nm wavelength region following a procedure involving a straight line approximation of the reflection attenuation. Rh2O3 shows a direct band gap of 3.4 eV and an indirect band gap of 1.22 eV.
