Discussion on Measuring Configuration of ±800 kV Ultra HVDC System Protection

Based on a typical measuring configuration of±800 kV ultra HVDC system and the viewpoint of protection implementation and fault point partition,this paper proposes an optimal measuring configuration for the converter area under an analysis of its deficiencies.The fault characteristic and valve group isolation under the optimal measuring configuration are discussed when the fault is in rectifier or in inverter.
