A Unified Design of Broadband Two-Degree-of-Freedom Vibration Energy Harvesting System for High-Quality Factor Generators

This paper presents a unified design method to realize wideband and highly sensitive two-degree-of-freedom (2-DOF) energy harvesting system for vibration generators having high quality factor. We analytically derive the design solutions by introducing a factor of output-power amplification for normalizing the power generation characteristics. For verification of the derived theory, the design-implemented setup has been prepared with the electret-type energy harvester mounted on an interposer prototype. The setup performs amplifications of output power and half-value bandwidth of 4.5 and 20 times greater than those of a single generator, respectively, in a good agreement between the measurement and the design theory.
