Thermodynamic properties of binary liquid mixtures of cycloalkanol + n-alkanes

Abstract Molar excess enthalpies at 298.15 K were measured for binary mixtures of cyclopentanol and cyclohexanol with n -alkanes ( n -hexane, n -heptane, n -octane, n -decane and n -dodecane). The excess enthalpies are all positive, large and increase with the chain length of the n -alkane. In addition, a direct dilatometric technique was used to determine the molar excess volumes at 298.15 K for these systems. The results have been discussed in terms of physical and structural effects.
