A Survey on Wormhole Attack Detection and Prevention Techniques in Wireless Sensor Networks

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) have been used in many applications now a days viz., military and non-military applications, healthcare systems, forest fire information system, disaster management etc. Security is one of the major and significant issues in these networks. Several attacks are planned by intruders at each layer of the network model. This paper deals with detection and prevention of an attack of network layer called wormhole attack. Several authors described different modes of this attack and their detection methods. Intruders are trying every time some new methods of the attack. So, securing the network from such attacks is the demand of the system. This paper presents a survey of detection and prevention techniques for wormhole attack and also some future directions for this problem.
