Equivalent wind speed analysis of overhead transmission line based on FLUENT

Wind speed measurement is an important stage in carrying capacity determination of overhead transmission lines. Due to the difference between near-surface wind speed and the one near the line, the accuracy of the capacity determination of sometimes could not satisfy the requirement of electricity management. To solve the problem, an equivalent wind speed detection method based on height calculation has been proposed for carrying capacity determination in this paper. In the method, several elevate wind speed is estimated by numerical modeling, and then the equivalent wind speed is calculated with the estimated values. The estimated results of elevating wind speed are consistent with the ones simulated in FLUENT 16.0, and the effectiveness of equivalent values calculation is verified with the industrial data.
