An A TT Array Configuration for Performance Enhancement of PV system Under PSC

2021
In solar photovoltaic system, partial shading condition (PSC) is one of the main obstructions in constant power generation. PSC is caused due to the passing clouds, shadows of the nearby buildings and trees, dust particles accumulated on the PV modules etc. Under PSC, PV modules experience the mismatch in power generation and exhibit the uneven PV characteristics. Partial shading effect on PV system can be reduced by choosing a suitable PV array configuration. In this paper, a new array configuration named as Alternative Tri Tie (ATT) is proposed. For performance comparison, a PV array of size 6×6 is modeled in MATLAB Simulink. Different PV configurations such as series-parallel (SP), Bridge link (BL), Total cross tied (TCT), Honey Comb (HC) and Alternative Tri Tie (ATT) are considered under various shading conditions. Performance of different array configurations are compared in terms of voltage at maximum power (V m), current at maximum power (Im), maximum power (Pm) and fill factor. It is observed that proposed array configuration outperforms the conventional array configurations.
