O LUGAR DA HISTÓRIA NA HISTÓRIA DO LUGAR: Sobre geo-grafias e espaços de memória no oeste de Minas Gerais

This  paper aims  to  discuss the  importance  of historicizing forms  of  representation ofspace understood  not  only as  the  support  of particular  memory,  but as  the  notion  thatenables understanding  the  world: themselves  and  others, in times  when  it  is transformed  intoa place, landscape, territory, region. This notion is crucial for understanding the historical processes inwhich  they  establish the  limits  and  boundaries and  strategies  of  social identification. Consideringthe experience of  searching  for  a specific spatial  area,  west of  Minas,  taken as  a  researchstrategy of spatial  forms and  social thinking seeks  to  better the  processes  of identification  anddifferentiation to try to understand the social and historical subjects. Finally, discusses the importance toconsider at the same time, the historical conditions of spatial socialization and the social differentiation ofspace.
