Structure of the angular distributions of protons emitted in events with total breakup of the carbon nucleus by. pi. /sup -/ mesons with p/sub. pi. //sup -/ = 40 GeV/c

A sharp maximum is observed near 60/sup 0/ in the angular distributions of protons from ..pi../sup -12/C interactions at p- = 40 GeV/c accompanied by total breakup of the target nucleus. These distributions were selected according to special criteria which are natural from the viewpoint of the problem of searching for shock waves.
