Automobile antenna system and method for determining the connection status

A vehicle communication system includes an antenna system in a vehicle and a method for determining a connection status of the antenna system. The antenna system includes a test antenna for transmitting a wireless signal with a diagnostic signature waveform and a primary antenna which receives the wireless diagnosis signal and provides a corresponding signal wired diagnosis of a diagnostic circuit. The diagnosis circuit is configured to determine a connection status of the antenna system based on the presence or absence of the signature waveform in the signal received by the primary antenna wired diagnostic signal. It is possible that the diagnosis circuit (FSM) includes a finite state machine for the implementation of the link state determination.
