High moisture-resistive MoOx/metal/graphite barrier films with excellent thermal dissipation for the encapsulation of organic electronics

2020
Abstract We have developed very simple and cost-effective encapsulation method using thermal-deposited MoOx/metal hybrid thin film followed by graphite patch technology. The water vapor transmission rate of the optimized film reached 8.7 × 10−5 g/m2/day based on the calcium test, which is comparable to those of inorganic hybrid films prepared by plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition method. With this novel barrier film, the operation lifetime of the organic light-emitting diode (OLED) reached 1032 h operated at an initial luminance of 2000 cd/m2. Moreover, the heat dissipation coefficient of the encapsulation film with graphite patch is superior to metals, indicating that the encapsulation film has potential application in organic electronics including OLEDs in high-temperature environment.
