2018
ABSTRACT: Patient Security represents a global tendency recommended by the OMS and that indicates health services quality. In this Research we aim to understand the Patient Security protocols at the surgery center of the Hospital Universitario from the Universidade Federal do Maranhao. Analytical methods include description and exploratory tools on a quantitative analysis. The studied population was the nursing crew of the four surgery facilities of the HUUFMA, bringing a total of 126 subjects. Ethics permission for the research is 2.076.153 under the Ethis Comitee from the Universidade Federal do Maranhao. Data gathering was conducted between September and November 2017, thru Hospital Survey on Patient Safaty Culture instrument, with posterior insertion on dynamic datasheet provided by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. Results include larger number of females amongst subjects 104 (82, 54%) and high number of health technicians 92 (73, 01%). 45 (35, 71%) present post graduate lato sensu education. Overall the studied facilities do not present reliable Patient Security protocols although present potential for safety at the dimensions “Supervisor/Manager expectations and actions promoting patient safety”; “Organizatonal learning- continuous improvement”; “Teamwork within units”; “Management support for patient safety”; “Handoffs and transitions” and “Frequency of events reported”.
