Starving children in once-rich Argentina.

In the last two months six children have died of starvation in Argentina the media in Buenos Aires reported Monday and the number of unconfirmed deaths mounts daily. The Argentine Center of Studies on Childrens Nutrition a local consultant to the World Health Organization says one in five Argentine children are undernourished. The countrys census and statistics institute INDEC says the infant mortality rate has risen in some areas to 30 per 1000 born alive. Until recently it was 18 per 1000. (excerpt)
