Effect of Feeding Frequency on Growth Performance of Ompok pabda Fry

2014
A 90 days feeding trial was conducted using pabda, Ompok pabda fry (av. wt.±1.10 g) to study the effect of feeding frequency on growth performance. The ingredients used for the feed preparation were fish meal, soybean meal, corn powder, sunflower oil, attractants and vitamin-mineral mixture. The feed was fed once (Feeding frequency 1), twice (Feeding frequency 2) and thrice (Feeding frequency 3). The net weight gain was significantly (P<0.05) higher in Feeding frequency 2 (1.39±0.21), followed by Feeding frequency 3 (0.87±0.15) and Feeding frequency 1 (0.40±0.05). The growth performance and specific growth rate were significantly (P<0.05) higher in Feeding frequency 2. The carcass composition was similar in all the treatments. Hence, feeding twice was optimum for O. pabda fry.
