Chain Assisted Tree Based Self-healing Protocol for Topology Managed WSNs

2017
The sensor node in a wireless sensor network is prone to failure if they have to survive in a harsh environment. In such environment link failure is also a very common problem, and that failure can be temporary or may be permanent. These failures may be left the network with an orphan node or disconnected branches and thus sometimes make the network useless. Till now many research has been proposed in the field of topology management most of them worked on sleep and wakeup scheme. Here we presented a scheme for Energy-Efficient data aggregation in Chain Assisted Tree based structure (CAT). We are introducing agent with sensor networks to collect data from the sensor nodes in tree fashion while repair links by forming a chain of disconnected nodes. The proposed scheme especially worked on link repair and put best efforts to reconnect orphan nodes or disconnected branches with the tree network. This CAT protocol ensure a very minimal amount of data loss while keeping network connected throughout the lifetime. Simulation results depict the improved lifetime of the network.
