Operation experience of the BINP accelerator mass spectrometer

The accelerator mass spectrometer (AMS), created at BINP, is used for an ultra-sensitive radiocarbon concentration measurements for archaeology, geology, biomedical science and other fields. The BINP AMS is based on the 1MV folded tandem accelerator with 3+ ion selection and has several distinctive features. Firstly, the 180° electrostatic bend, located inside the high voltage terminal, is used as energy separator of ion beam. Secondly, the magnesium vapors stripper is used instead of the gas stripper. Thirdly, the moment of time for ion detection is registered by TOF telescope.
