SOME DISTINCTIVE PALEO-INDIAN TOOL TYPES FROM THE LOWER GREAT LAKES REGION

2016
Distinctive Paleo-Indian tool types recovered from fluted point sites in the lower Great Lakes area are described. These tool types have proved useful for placing materials in time/space frameworks and are suggested to be more sensitive to Paleo-Indian activity variation than many traditionally recognized tool types. It is often stated that Paleo Indians produced a limited range of use-significant tool types. This paper suggests this conclusion is premature and is more a product of analytical approaches to the Paleo Indian artifact record ramer man the presentation of any hard data.
