Research on Biometric Identification Technology

Biometric is a technology for uniquely recognizing humans based upon one or more physiological or behavioral characteristics, which realizes through the computer image processing and pattern recognition method. This article describes three kinds of biometric identification technology: iris recognition, face recognition and gait recognition. Image preprocessing, feature extraction and recognition methods involved in each identification method are described in detail, and proposed an example for gait recognition method using the energy map. In the end, the future research directions in these recognitions are discussed.
