Determination Of Organ Volume With S.P.E.C.T.

1987
The volume of various organs in the body, including the liver and spleen, have been measured from image data obtained by the S.P.E.C.T. technique. Organ volumes were obtained by applying a semi-automated edge detection algorithm to each tomographic slice image in the stack of slices encompassing the organ. The technique was validated by applying it to images of phantoms of known volume.
