Evaluation of resistance of tobacco germplasm to root-knot nematodes.

During 1996 1997,65 entries of tobacco were evaluated for resistance to Meloidogyne incognita race 1 and M.javanica in greenhouse,which were inoculated with eggs or infected soil.16 entries of tobacco germplasm were resistant to M.incognita race 1 and 25 entries were moderately resistant to M.incognita race 1.But only Va102 was moderately resistant to M.javanica. 10 entries of tobacco germplasm were evaluated for resistance to M. arenaria race 2 in field experiments.The result showed that only CF954 was moderately resistant to M.arenaria race 2.
