GIS-CAD AND THE NEW URBAN PLANNING UNIVERSE

Geographic information systems (GIS) and computer-aided design (CAD) are changing the face of urban planning with combined applications in road/land-use planning, traffic analysis, engineering design, and environmental impact assessment. This article describes the specializations that are possible through GIS-CAD platforms as well as the techniques and data required to use these tools effectively. In the future, cross-discipline experts will be in great demand having mastered the GIS-CAD cross-discipline tools to conduct cross-discipline research.
