Red Light District and Sustainable Porn

2010
In this paper, Marie-Helene Bourcier addresses the potential of the growing “green porn,” which is one of the extensions of pro-sex feminism which started in the 1970s with the sex workers’ movement and lesbian S/M subcultures in the1980s. From a symbol, or even an absolute fabrication of “female exploitation” in the 1980s, did the sex industry generate micro-political spaces that enable us, among other things, to finally articulate what can be described as an indecent materialism? What role did “red dykes” play in this process? And what micro-politics are we referring to in a republic?
