A multilevel system for diagnosis of sleep apnea

2018
The article substantiates the choice of biomedical signals and significant indicators used to diagnose sleep apnea. According to the task given, a block diagram of a multi-level telemedicine system for the diagnosis of apnea has been designed and studied. In the developed system, the “patient terminal device” is a special equipment for the receiving and recording of biomedical signals. It consists of two parts — an inductive sensor-converter that converts the mechanical movements of the chest during breathing, and an analog signal processing unit. The design of an inductive sensor-converter, which provides high sensitivity of transformation of mechanical movements of the chest during breathing, is proposed. Algorithms for processing and analyzing biomedical signals for automatic diagnosis of sleep apnea episodes in the context of limited energy resources of the telemedicine system have been developed.
