Effect of Lime and Pig Manure on Growth of Vicia villosa cv.varglabrescens in Soil Polluted by Lead and Zinc Mine Tailings

2009
The effect of improver lime and pig manure on the growth of Vicia villosa cv.varglabrescens in the soil polluted by lead and zinc mine tailings was studied through the pot experiment in the greenhouse. The results showed that the application of improvers could make the above-ground fresh weight, underground fresh weight, total fresh weight and dry weight, contents of chlorophyll a,chlorophyll b and carotene, plant height and root length of Vicia villosa cv.varglabrescens increase. The above-ground fresh weight, plant height and root length of Vicia villosa cv.varglabrescens treated by pig manure were significantly higher than those of the check. The above-ground fresh weight, underground fresh weight, total fresh weight, underground dry weight, contents of chlorophyll a and carotene, plant height and root length of Vicia villosa cv.varglabrescens treated by lime were obviously higher than those of the check. These indicated that the application of lime and pig manure could reduce the poisonous effect of heavy metals on Vicia villosa cv.varglabrescens, and promote its growth. In addition, the capacity of lime to reduce the poisonous effect of heavy metals was better than that of pig manure.
