Magnetic properties of Layered compounds Gd1-xLaxMn2Ge2
1999
We performed the measurements of magnetization of the pseudo ternaries Gd1-xLaxMn2Ge2 with 0≤x≤0.2 in the temperature range from 4.2K to 480K in magnetic fields up to 6T. For x=0.05 and 0.06, the system shows the ferrimagnetism at high temperatures, it transforms to the antiferromagnetism at an intermediate temperature with decreasing temperature, and finally indicates a reentrant ferrimagnetism like SmMn2Ge2. For x≥0.1, the system exhibits the ferrimagnetism in all ordering temperature range, accompanied by a compensation phenomenon. The compensation behavior as a function of temperature is discussed on the basis of two sublattice molecular-field model.
