Die Ansicht, dass fur die numerische Simulation von geotechnischem Versagen das Materialmodell keine wesentliche Rolle spielt, wird kritisch erortert. Aufgrund von Literaturhinweisen und eigenen Untersuchungen wird gezeigt, dass das Materialmodell durchaus eine Rolle spielen kann. Es ist daher fundiertes Fachwissen uber die Materialmodelle erforderlich. Eine Auserachtlassung von Materialmodellen bei Standsicherheitsnachweisen a priori sollte vermieden werden.
