Molecular diagnosis of COVID-19: Challenges and research needs.

Challenges and issues of molecular diagnosis of COVID-19 have captured the world's attention. Analytical challenges directly impact the speed and validity of molecular diagnosis, raising concerns over clinical sensitivity and specificity. In this Perspective, we discuss strategies for molecular diagnosis of COVID-19, highlight challenges of detecting SARS-CoV-2 virus, and identify opportunities to assist in finding solutions to these challenges.
