Get the lead out: A contractor's perspective on the new lead course

1994
A coating contractor comments on his experience as a student of NACE International's Get the Lead Out course. The author points out that 29 CFR 1926.62 is thoroughly explained during the four-day seminar, as is the fact that learning to comply with the regulation only starts with this course. Because of the complexities of OSHA's lead regulations, contractors must be prepared to do some legwork to create their own safe and effective lead abatement program. The insights into the OSHA inspection and citation process provide tools to avoid or reduce citations even if a company does not change its operations at all. One will learn more about the lead regulation than most OSHA compliance officers.
