Chemical Composition and Antioxidant Activity of the Essential Oil of the Whole Plant of Rungia pectinata

AbstractThe volatile components from whole plant of Rungia pectinata were obtained by hydrodistillation and analyzed by GC and GC-MS. A total of 38 compounds were identified, representing 94.51 % of the oil. The dominant compounds were trans-phytol (35.77 %), hexahydrofarnesyl acetone (18.72 %) and isophytol (3.79 %). Antioxidant and radical-scavenging properties were evaluated by means of 2, 2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay.
