Development of Pellet Machine for Utilization of Biogas Slurry

Biogas slurry contains the number of nutrients required for plant growth as organic fertilizer. The production capacity of biogas slurry is normally very large and having a higher percentage of moisture. Thus, the utilization of biogas slurry is very difficult. The capacity of the developed pellet machine was 50 kg per hour having one horsepower power supply. The evaluation of the developed machine was tested in terms of pelleting efficiency, pelleting capacity, and throughput capacity. The 80% biogas slurry and 20% clay soil mixture gave a better result. Result found that 76% of pelleting efficiency, 18 kg per hour of pelleting capacity, and 24 kg per hour of throughput capacity, respectively. The economic evaluation was found to be $3066 of net present worth, 1.40 of BCR, 108% IRR, and 11 months of PP, respectively. The economic analysis indicated that the developed pellet machine could be probably used for small-scale processing of biogas slurry in rural areas having an overall cost of $540.
