Performance on single basin square pyramid solar still

Abstract Solar still is widely used in Industries as well as Domestic. Single basin square pyramid is experimentally analysed with and without porous materials like clay pot pieces and chalk pieces. The outside ambient, inside and outside temperature of glass surfaces, basin water and condensate temperature and mass of condensate collected were recorded, for hourly intervals with thermocouple. The experiments were conducted with a constant depth of 1 cm in the basin. The system performance was found to be maximum 36% and it is strongly suggests a good capability of the system to convert solar thermal energy for desalination process.
