Cambios de usos del suelo en la Comunidad de Madrid: analizando el pasado y simulando el futuro

2012
The Madrid region is in constant change. Features such being the main hub of transportation, both road and air, and both people and goods, having the largest metropolitan area in the country and the highest degree of urbanization, provides it a geographical dynamism that is not present in other Spanish Autonomous Regions. Almost 50% of the region has experienced a change in land use between 1982 and 2006. We analyse the dynamics of land use for this period using CORINE Land Cover legend, level 2 and 3. A methodological framework is presented for two future land use scenarios: a trend scenario and a green scenario, using the CLUE simulation model. This paper shows how the knowledge of the past can help us to model the future and how land use simulation models can be helpful to know the evolution that may remain in the Madrid Region, in order to be taken into account in planning and management of its territory.
