Communicative Rhetoric: A Necessary Means in Translation ——A comment on two Chinese versions of Jane Eyre

Abstract: In order to get a perfect expression in translation, translators should not ignore the employment of rhetoric. This paper discusses on two Chinese versions of Jane Eyre in five aspects: the collocation, the choice of words, the rendering of abstract nouns, the choice of cultural meaning and the choice of styles. Finally, it comes to a conclusion: communicative rhetoric plays an important role in translation, for it can help translators get more proper, more natural and more successful translation.
