Fuzzy Logic: Signal Conditioning for SO2 Sensor

1994
Abstract In the last decade researchers are actively working on development of gas sensors as their applications have increased from industrial automation to household applications. The measurement of SO 2 is important for industries as well as for pollution control. The development of low cost sensors is facing problems with reliability. The main problem is that they are cross-sensitive and have nonlinear characteristics, which requires compensation as well as linearisation by signal conditioning. For this purpose complex mathematical models of SO 2 sensors are designed which are still under test. Alternatively this work pursues this problem by using fuzzy logic; as a first step, various effects are individually considered, and the performance of the fuzzy models are compared to the available mathematical models.
