Computer simulation of mutagenesis

A FORTRAN program is described which simulates point-substitution mutations in the DNA strands of typical organisms. Its objective is to help students to understand the significance and structure of the genetic code, and the mechanisms and effects of mutagenesis. The program is intended to be used as part of an elementary course in genetics at degree level.
