Drinking of elementary and secondary school children: Proposed prevention

This paper is a study of a special problem of drinking of elementary and secondary school children in various social settings and the differences defined among them. Analyzed is the degree of information about alcohol use and abuse as well as the children's attitudes and observations about the parents' and teachers' drinking. The sample of this pilot study consisted of 1,570 pupils. The first group of 664 subjects were the pupils from the 5th to 8th elementary school classes in Belgrade. The second one of 436 pupils of elementary school in Arandjelovac, and the third one of 470 subjects were pupils from secondary school in Arandjelovac. The results obtained are discussed and proposed preventive educational measures to be carried out in schools and supported by families and other experts in this field.
