Flood of ideas

2013
The 2011 floods showed Queensland had forgotten the lessons of earlier disasters and prompted ideas on how to prepare for the next one. Flood of Ideas grew from the challenge to help the community collect and connect these ideas to create a public resource to assist planning and preparedness. The crowd-sourced web project led to exhibitions, workshops in schools, resources and events exploring risks and resilience. The multi-disciplinary Flood of Ideas team reflects on the role of community involvement in urban planning and disaster response, the lessons learnt, and the ideas that endure.
