THE ACCENTUATION OF SUBSTANTIVES IN KASHUBIAN AND SLOVINCIAN

2016
Kashubian occupies a unique position within the western branch of the Slavic languages because the north of the small Kashubian area has preserved, with certain restrictions, the Proto-Slavic principle of accentual mobility. Mobile stress was also preserved in the now extinct Slovincian language, which was closely related to Kashubian. It is my intention to show on the basis of the accentuation of substantives in North-' Kashubian that certain accentual developments which have been reconstructed for Slovincian also took place in Kashubian.
