Moisture Absorption Behavior and Mechanical Properties of Banana Fiber-Reinforced Fly Ash/Epoxy Composites

Natural fibers are now getting more and more importance in composite manufacturing due to renewable, recyclable, and biodegradability requirements resulting from increased environmental awareness. In this work, moisture absorption behavior and mechanical properties of two composites, i.e., banana fiber reinforced in epoxy and banana fiber reinforced in fly ash/epoxy composites, were experimentally determined and compared. It was observed that fly ash/epoxy composite provides improved properties in comparison with epoxy composite.
