Octabultoxy 2,3-naphthalocyanine cobalt(II) ultrathin film: preparation, characterization and gas-sensing properties

2004
Abstract The title complex octabultoxy 2,3-naphthalocyanine cobalt(II) (CoNc(OC 4 H 9 ) 8 ) was synthesized, and the stable Langmuir monolayer was obtained on the pure water surface. The deposition process of the Langmuir–Blodgett (LB) film was investigated. The structure of complex CoNc(OC 4 H 9 ) 8 and its multilayers were characterized by IR and electronic spectra. The results showed that the naphthalocyanine LB film could be well transferred onto the substrates, while the surface of the multilayers was partially oxidized by air. The naphthalocyanine molecule packed as J -aggregate in the film with one-dimensional order along the multilayer deposition direction. The sensing experiment indicated that the LB film was sensitive to NH 3 (30–150 ppm) and C 2 H 5 OH (5–25 ppm) at room temperature. The response and recovery time to 120 ppm NH 3 is just 15 and 50 s, respectively.
