Työelämässä oppiminen, ohjaus ja oppilaitosyhteistyö työpaikkojen näkökulmasta

2019
The reform of vocational education and training (VET) in Finland increases learning in workplaces. Simultaneously, workplaces’ role in guiding students is likely to increase, as well as their cooperation with VET institutions. This article examines the VET reform from the perspective of the workplaces: what kind of guidance resources workplaces have, how prepared they are for the reform and how they see the cooperation with the institutions. Particularly, we examine whether industrial sector, number of personnel, personnel training on guidance and being a workplace trainer are related to respondents’ views on the reform. Data is based on a questionnaire study conducted in 2018 (n=501, women 50.2%). The respondents recognized several developmental needs in guidance resources and cooperation with the institutions. The awareness of the VET reform was rather limited. Industrial sector, personnel training and workplace trainer status were related to several indicators on guidance resources, preparedness and cooperation with the institutions. Developmental needs related to guidance knowhow and resources as well as cooperation practices are discussed. In addition, the importance of safety and well-being in workplace learning are highlighted.
